about the gallery...

Wooden Stone first opened in 2004 in the heart of Davidson, a small college town in North Carolina. Owner Drew Crawford aspired to bring together American craft that was both aesthetic and functional in one’s daily life.
Since it’s beginnings Wooden Stone has grown to represent over 600 artists and craftspeople that live and work in the United States and Canada, over 100 of which are native to the Carolinas. Wooden Stone strives to support the efforts of American craftspeople that design and create quality work. The majority of craft represented at Wooden Stone is made in small studios that employ five people or fewer, giving customers the chance to own craft that is beautiful, durable and unique.

The 5,000 square foot gallery in Davidson showcases furniture, pottery, kitchenware, home decor, gifts and jewelry in a wide variety of media, including ceramics, wood, glass, metal, and fiber.

our mission...

Wooden Stone inspires you to acquire, showcase and gift the finest handcrafted functional fine art in an environment that makes one enthusiastic about contemporary American craft and the artists we proudly represent.

what is functional art?

We believe that objects used in our everyday lives can be both functional and hold aesthetic value. Functional fine art is designed and created by American artists, by hand for your hands. We love to talk about our artists and their work and hear how you integrate it into your life and your home. What does functional fine art mean to you?

Our art tells the story of the artist who made it and takes on the stories of those who use it. The pieces are unique, the designs are functional and the goal is simple: to put handcrafted art in your hands.
