Andy Brinkley

Andy Brinkley, a native of Virginia, has worked in metals for over two decades. Initially a blacksmith, Andy began to utilize various metals and came to specialize in brass and copper. He started by working out of a small basement shop. Today his studio is situated on ten acres of woodland nestled in the Appalachian foothills of North Carolina.

Whether tending to his wildflower garden or sculpting at his bench, Andy's love and appreciation of nature is evident. Forest and marsh foliage imagery are central in much of Andy's work. He also uses whimsical garden creatures, including frogs, turtles, birds and insects, to complement his line of birdhouses and feeders.

Natural materials such as driftwood or shells have accented some of these pieces, and Andy has recently collaborated with two friends to combine high-fired pottery and copper. The results are small tabletop fountains.

When not at his bench or in his garden, Andy may be found at the controls of his antique Luscombe Aircraft, or birdwatching with his wife, Leslie, who operates a nearby gallery
