Blue Jam Designs Jennifer Meadvin
Artist's Statement As a child, my need to be creative was inspired and nurtured by my painter grandmother, who introduced me to art and the many mediums in which to express myself.
Practical thinking aside, I went the creative route and got a degree in metalsmithing. After working in metal for sometime, my desire to continually learn new mediums pointed me towards clay. I took a few classes and discovered tile-making. I was hooked and knew I had to pursue this art form.
Taking inspiration from everything around me, I have created a line in earthenware clay. These pieces are built from slabs of clay which have been pressed in hand carved molds to achieve the desired texture. They are fired in an electric kiln and then individually painted in an array of glazing techniques. Fired once more my pieces become the decorative and functional accessories to enhance any home.
