Balsam Mountain Pottery Laurey-Faye Long
Artist StatementMy pots are purposefully pretty, lyrical and narrative, visual poems to the Southern Appalachians. The ornament and design reflect the plants, animals and landscapes of these mountains. They are ornate and colorful with references to French potter of the 1500's, Bernard Palissy, and American Art Potteries Rookwood and McCoy.
Laurey-Faye Long received a BFA from the University of Georgia, an AA from Haywood Community College and is a past resident artist of the Visual Arts Center of Alaska. She is currently a studio potter in Balsam, NC, teaches at AB Tech and is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
