Artist's Statement
Primarily self-taught, I have been designing and building fine furniture since 1997. I earned a BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and have exhibited my artwork regionally. My shop is located in a converted tobacco pack house in rural southeast Guilford County near Greensboro, NC. There, in addition to creating my own furniture designs for sale through fine craft galleries nationwide, I also build custom, commissioned work to order.
I build elegant handcrafted furniture from exquisite woods with a respect for tradition while reflecting my own personal design sense. That sense is informed by things as diverse as acorns and tribal rugs, architecture and Audrey Hepburn. Influences range from British Arts and Crafts to American Federal to French Art Deco. As I refine my designs the goal remains: to create pieces that appear fragile yet remain functional with subtle, sensuous forms, elegant curves and delicate details.
