Club Mersa

Alex and Viviana Santamaria

Alex, a painter, and Viviana, a designer, began in 1982 working with colorful foam. They started by designing a line of contemporary jewelry and fashion accessories. In 1987, they introduced Club Mersa, a line of modern home accessories using stainless steel, wood and rubber. For the past twenty years, their work has been shown throughout the United States as well as in London, Tokyo, Majorca and Buenos Aires. The processes used are somewhat inspired by pre-Industrial methods. They elaborate the concept of bi-dimensional cuts that, with creases and folds, become three-dimensional objects.
