Douglas Thayer was born in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RIT's School of American Crafts in 1993. He works in his studio in western Massachussetts. His current body or work combines the use of both wood and concrete in a series of outdoor benches. His work is exhibited nationally and has been recognized in various publications.

Artist's Statement
I build furniture for the pleasure of creating beautiful objects. The message of my work is simply one of beauty and harmony. Through comfortable proportions and clean elements my work exists quietly and peacefully within its surroundings.
