Jennythreads Jen Swearington
Jen Swearington grew up in Dyer, Indiana, a small rural-turned-suburban town right outside Chicago. She knew she wanted to be an artist since the age of 12. Jen has been drawing as long as she can remember and sewing since the sixth grade.
Jen graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a BFA in sculpture in 1997 and then went on to get her MFA degree in fiber arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2000.
She spent a year in Gatlinburg, TN as textiles artist-in residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, where she occasionally teaches textiles workshops. She is now an adjunct professor in the humanities department at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Jen lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Paul Walker and their two cats. She operates Jennythreads full-time, continuously experimenting with image, narrative & pattern on silk, paper & found fabric. Her work is displayed in fine exhibitions, galleries, boutiques, craft fairs, and publications
