Marc Matsui
Born and raised in Seattle, Marc found an interest in ceramics at the early age of 15. Throughout his high school years he was fortunate to have two professional pottery teachers, Regnor Reinholdston and Sam Scott, both of whom had a tremendous influence on him.
He attended the University of Washington while perfecting his unique skills in pottery.
Marc is best known for his simplistic, delicate hand-thrown pieces and glazing techniques that transform clay into a canvas for his brilliant colors that make his pieces look more like glass than ceramics. "Everyone seen something different in a piece," Marc says
of his abstract designs. "I try to stimulate visual excitement by incorporating various colors and designs on forms that are simple, yet elegant and economically affordable." Marc strives for a contemporary look that fits somewhere in any home - from modern city apartments to
homes in the suburbs, to the heartland farms.
