Nancy G Cook

Nancy G Cook is a fiber artist using layers of textiles to convey impressions of nature. Cook's wall quilts have an intimate and graphic quality with a color palette varying from intense to minimal. Using her own freezer paper stencils, Cook uses Tsukineko inks to create a design on cotton-sateen hand-dyed fabrics by Heidi Stoll-Weber. Her hand-guided machine quilting creates a low relief sculpture with hand-embroidered details. With a summer residency at the McCall Center for Visual Arts, she has twice received artist grants from the Arts and Science Council and the Charlotte Quilters' Guild.
