Parris Works Pottery
Chris Parris

"When wet, clay is malleable and can be formed in endless ways. For this reason I love clay. My tools are the electric wheel and my hands. During the throwing process I fold delicate edges to discover new forms. The wide variety of folds that I discover are then applied to functional forms that express simplicity, freshness, strength and fluidity. To complete the work, I use a crawl glaze and the exposed clay to achieve richness."

Born into a family of artists, musician and painter, Chris Parris was placed into the arts at a very early age. Growing up on Cape Cod with its high concentration of potters, there were many opportunities for learning about clay from elementary through high school. The rich Cape Cod environment filled with water, sand dunes, shells, stones, and sea life strongly influence him.

Chris eventually apprenticed with a renowned sculptor, Dimitri Hadzi, leading to the ultimate completion of his training.

Chris has contiued to be influenced by many of the arts, from the porcelains of St. Petersburg, Daum, Serves, Modern Sculpture and Rococo Architecture. His pottery designs are classic, functional and decorative. All the work is food, microwave and dishwasher safe. Please use and enjoy.
