Susan Bradshaw works with glass at Woven Time Studio, located in North Monterey County, California. Her artistic ideas come from the play of light and colors in the world around her. Hand cut pieces of colored glass are used to create the basic shape. Frits and powdered glass are added to enhance the image. The glass pieces are heated in a kiln to between 1380 and 1450 degrees, fusing them into a single piece. What she loves most about fused glass is the dance of light with glass. It is a constantly changing dance. On sunny days it is a lively, sparkly dance. On foggy or rainy days it is a slow, sensuous dance. In the evening it becomes a two-beat dance of reflected and refracted light.
