ARTIST STATEMENT

Tim Garvin of Blue Bus Studio has been working in ceramics and metal for over 40 years, creating porcelain pieces using the ancient millefiori technique. The extreme detail and intense color in his ceramic work results from the use of over 500 different colors of clay to create carefully designed clay loaves. Next, cross-sections are sliced from the loaves, and these sections are shaped and finished into individual pieces, then glazed and fired three times. Often, 23+ karat platinum edging is applied, and the piece receives its final fire. Tim takes great pride in the quality of his craftsmanship and uses the best materials available. He has won numerous awards in national art shows throughout the U.S.
