ARTIST STATEMENT

Stuart Nye began creating hand wrought jewelry in the North Carolina mountains during the Great Depression.  Starting with a few simple bangle bracelets, he then fashioned silver into the leaves and flowers still characteristic of their jewelry today.  His family continues his legacy, creating fresh and different pieces, now incorporating various metals.
