Bradford Woodworking is the culmination of a life’s worth of passion for furniture making by craftsman Brad Smith and his wife Sandy. Brad graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology’s school for American Craftsmen in 1980 with a BFA in woodworking and furniture design. His business began later that year with a line of kitchen tools and accessories, and expanded in 1986 with a line of distinctive furniture. Because Bradford Woodworking is located on a farm, off-the-shelf parts such as ax handles and pitchforks are used in unusual, inventive ways that give the furniture its distinctive Bradford look. Brad describes this look as “rusticated, post-agricultural, contemporary, country.” His work is also characterized by its attention to detail and fine craftsmanship.
