All Hasselle pottery is hand-thrown. The intricate brushwork designs and bold colors of Hasselle Pottery are unique and the result of several overlays of glaze application. The process begins with porcelain underglazing. Next, multiple glazes are applied, and sometimes sponged off, leaving only partial coloring. Third, an overglaze of metallic oxides is applied with Japanese brushes and carved sponge stamps. The result is a rich, complex surface with translucency and depth. Each piece is a unique creation.
